They Shall Inherit

They Shall Inherit

Friends –

The end of one year and the beginning of another always causes a need to recall where I have been and what I have done. I imagine that most people do this. But I have to say that I have had good fortune in the opportunities to visit beautiful places and to have good experiences – especially those I could share with family.

This painting, 'They Shall Inherit', represents a composite of the places I have visited in 2021, in soil and water memories. It is also represents the acknowledgement that I may not necessarily visit these places ever again. Or, if I do, they will likely not be the same.

Still, what I can do is to pass on these memories to the kids. At some point it will be their choice whether to explore the world and see what I have seen.

It is not hard to find Benjamin and his brother, Leonardo, in this painting, full of curiosity and adventure. But what may be less obvious is the presence of a fading artist who watches them and keeps trying to document what matters to her the most. 'They Shall Inherit' is a 12x24" oil on board and is available for a donation to a worthwhile non-profit.
