Friends -
This is no gourd. And I am still working on my
stem cell project and an oil painting (river
scene) that I am excited about. But this is one
of the consignment projects I have been working
on and it is complete.
Typically, I do not paint flowers, but when a friend
asked me if I could paint this so he could give
it to his wife, I could not resist. He tells me
that she loves pansies, and I do too. But now that
I know more about them, I can see what it is that
makes them so attractive. Apparently, the name
'pansy' is from a French word (pensee) which means
'thought'. In Spanish, we say 'pensamiento'. Presumably
the little markings resemble somebody's face and
the bent-over stance reminds us of someone deep
in thought. They certainly are sweet and lovely
from any perspective.
The bowl that these are painted on was made by
my partner in Donation Art, Jay Schrieder. The
finished product is for his lovely and thoughtful
wife.
I hope you all are enjoying these almost-winter
days and are able to share the holidays with someone
that you love.
Best Regards -
